Why do women experience headaches during pregnancy

Most women experience headaches during pregnancy but this usually happens at the beginning and goes off after a few months. Most of the time headaches occur during the first couple of months of the pregnancy period. This continuous until the levels of estrogen are high enough to protect them for the rest of the pregnancy period. Headaches may occur again during the period after childbirth, because of the levels of estrogen start to fall again. The good news is that there are ways to get rid of the headaches during pregnancy but this must be done carefully since several medications are dangerous for pregnant women.

The levels of estrogen in pregnant women are increasing and they reach very high levels. The good thing is that they remain at constant high levels and do not have a lot of fluctuations. Fluctuations to the levels of estrogen happen during the menstrual cycles. This behavior of estrogen helps to eliminate headaches during the pregnancy period, both in frequency and intensity.

In most women headaches are eliminated completely during the pregnancy or they are very low in intensity that create no problems. In a few cases, about 10% of pregnant women with headaches, they exhibit more intense headaches, especially in the first 3 months of the pregnancy period. Again, as in the previous case, this improves during the remaining months of the pregnancy period.
