Semi truck accidents can be prevented in many cases if drivers in automobiles understand more clearly just what it takes to stop one in an instant. Unlike a car that can stop fairly quickly semi trucks can’t do that, so they end up taking more time and can potentially do lots of harm to others and themselves.
Don’t assume that they can see you, if you are traveling too close behind them or are on their side for two long they may just not know you are there. Don’t pass on their right side as this is the most common direction they are going to go. Give them room, if you see them in the left lane and they have their blinker on to turn right assume they are making a wide right turn, don’t sneak up on their right to get between them and the corner.
These may seem like common sense statements and in truth they are. However, we all need reminders that a truck accident is serious and that we can help do our part to limit the amount of time they happen.
