Cures for Tennis Elbow
Posted by GuestPoster in Sports and Games on June 10th, 2010
For those of you who have suffered from tennis elbow before, you will understand how painful it is and how uncomfortable everyday tasks can be. The shooting pain that radiates from your elbow joint can leave you lost for words and can make you feel quite debilitated. So what can you do about it? What are the best tennis elbow cures? The first and most important thing is to understand tennis elbow and how it can affect anyone.
Tennis elbow is essentially a condition that is caused by any repetitive movement. It is called tennis elbow (and sometimes golfers elbow) because both of these sports use repetitive motions for a prolonged period of time. It is not called such because you can only get tennis elbow when you are playing! Tennis elbow is a swelling or damage in the tendons that are in the elbow joint. It can also be known as tendonitis and can be extremely painful. One of the best ways to help with the pain of tennis elbow is with a combination of painkillers and heat/cool packs. Using an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas covered in a towel will help reduce the swelling and will also help to ease the pain. The heat packs will aid the pain when it becomes an ache rather than a shooting pain.
There are also several elbow tendonitis exercises that you can try that will help you to move the joints around and get you mobile once more. The first and most important thing to do is to try and stretch your arm out so that you have full range of your joint. Once you are able to do that then you can practice picking up objects and gripping them (often the most difficult exercise after tennis elbow). Tennis elbow can take months to fully get rid of so don’t expect miracles overnight.
