The Benefits of a Roman Blind Kit

Roman blinds are undoubtedly one of the best decorative choices you can make for your home, as they add a touch of elegant simplicity to any window.  Hardly surprising really, as they come from an age-old Roman tradition.

Obviously, way back when, the Romans used to make their own blinds.  They certainly didn’t go out to a big out of town superstore and buy them.  So, if you want to get the true historic experience, you might want to consider making your own roman blinds.

One of the best ways to do this is actually to cheat a little bit, and buy a roman blind kit.  These DIY kits come with all of the material you will need to make your roman blinds (thus saving you the hassle of going to lots of different shops for a bit here and a bit there), but leave all the fun bits – the actual construction – to you.

Accenuating the Scenic Window

If you’re wondering what type of blind or curtain to put on that scenic view window, you might be surprised to hear that many people are hanging Roman blinds over theirs.  Roman blinds come in many different styles, ranging from thick, heavy material to thin almost transparent polyester.

One terrific use I’ve seen with the transparent polyester type of material is using the roman blind to cover a scenic window. As the blind is almost totally transparent you can see a great view out of the window yet still benefit from getting some shade, or at least not having hot, direct sunlight come through the window.

And of course, the blinds fold up very high, so that if you want to open your blinds all the way you’ll also get a gorgeous full window view if you would like.

Still not sure you want to do away entirely with curtains? Then just get some thin curtains and hang them at the sides of your scenic window, so they hang down to frame the window and set off the blinds and view.

Another plus with roman blinds is that they’re generally quite a bit cheaper than the more expensive fabric curtains and they’re much easier to clean also.  If you’re looking for just the right blind for your scenic window I’d suggest you take a look at the variety of blinds available. You’ll probably find something that suits both your room’s decor and your budget.
