One of the great things that have happened in the last 20 years is the internet. It has enabled average guys to do online stock market trading from their own computers. It has opened up the way for day trading in the modern world.
The first thing you need when day trading is simplicity of strategy. Your stock trading strategy needs to be super, duper simple. It needs to be simple enough that you understand it backward and forward. If you don’t and you fumble a stock market trading strategy in the middle of an important trade, you will get screwed, big time. So keep it simple stupid.
Also, have patience. Don’t just jump into any stock trading position without having a clear edge in that trade. In other words, don’t chase trades. Let them come to you.
Lastly, trust your intuition because that is where you will make your best investment decisions. Once you understand clearly a few stock trading strategies and know how to identify good opportunities, listen to you gut. There have been a ton of market and trading psychological studies that have shown that our intuition is quite trustworthy.
In fact, ask any business person that has been successful in their careers. They’ll tell you how they make decisions, and you’ll find that they are far from formulas. They have specific principles that guide them and inform their intuition, but it’s ultimately their gut that tells them what decision to make.
It is no different in stock market trading. You have all of the data and financial analysis that goes into trading. But at the end of the day, it is your gut that will make you successful.
Foreign Currency Market Volatility Coming

There is a great foreign currency market volatility that is about to come, and it won’t be moved by the financial markets, economic reports, forex indicators or large banks. It will be moved by politics. More specifically, it will be moved primarily by monetary and fiscal policy by world governments. There is a currency battle coming that will bring tons of volatility with it.
It started when the US Federal Reserve decided to announce quantitative easing measures at the last Federal Open Market Committee meeting. This caused the USD to go down in value relative to it’s major trading pairs by more than 6%. The Fed was just trying to make it easier for businesses to borrow money to expand and create jobs.
So many investors seeing that they wouldn’t get much yield from investing in the US decided to go to Japan. Japan, already having issues with their currency going up in value, decided to intervene and it brought the Yen down.
Investors seeing that the US, Japan and other western countries were not going to yield much, decided to go to emerging markets. Now the emerging market countries are fighting back with their own devaluing measures.
This currency market volatility needs to be calculated into your forex trading strategies in the days ahead. It will probably be a good idea to watch the global economic news more than you might normally would. It will definitely be a different forex market than what you are used to.
This is going to be a global fight and it probably won’t be pretty. Every central bank and every government is trying to save their own economy. It’s a political thing that they won’t be able to overcome. Domestic political pressures will continue to cause these finance ministers and central bankers from engaging in global economic cooperation to keep the currency market volatility stable.
Commodity Futures Trading: A Brief Look

Commodity futures trading refer to the trading of futures contracts, which allows the contract owner the power to trade a commodity for a fixed rate in the future. Trading commodity futures is done in futures commodity trading markets. With the contracts being signed, the end result is the physical delivery of commodities, usually classified into agricultural (rice, sugar, for example), energy (natural gas, crude oil, for example), and metals and stones (gold, diamonds, for example).
When the trading contract expires, the buyer will make the payment and the seller will deliver the commodity. This differs with the procedure of financial futures contracts, where trading ends with a cash settlement, but no delivery of any commodity. Futures contract trading can be done through stock investing software that is connected to a commodity exchange or through a traditional method on a commodity exchange floor. Daily price movement of these commodities are specified and limited by the exchange.

Fixed Income Arbitrage

Fixed income arbitrage is but one of many different types of hedge fund trading strategies. Some of the other large and successful types of funds are long short equity, global macro trading, and other types of arbitrage.
Fixed income arbitrage is when you trade two different, usually barely different, securities and earn the spread or carry. Sometimes hedge fund managers will go pretty far out and trade some less then perfectly correlated securities against each other. Some managers will go long emerging market securities and short some Treasury securities to fund the trade. While this is a spread trade it is not a perfect hedge. Both assets can trade at widely different levels from each other. In good times you can earn a lot of excess return or carry but when things get bad you will get rocked as investors flee emerging markets like a theater on fire and run into the fireman’s arms, also known as Treasury securities.
Because of the different ways in which you can supposedly “arb” and make money it is important that you know how your manager actually executes their arbitrage strategy to ensure that it is not just a harebrained funding scheme. You can successfully arb out solid returns but if they look way too good to be true then you might want to look under the hood.
