The Star of David Tattoo
This tattoo has a lot of history behind it; both good and bad. Early on in the Jewish religion the Star of David symbol is believed to a reference to God and how he protected David as he fled from Saul’s attacks. This attribute of God being the protector is also seen many times in the Psalms.
The Star of David is a 6 sided star that became even better known through its uses in World War II. Hitler, recognizing this symbol as a Jewish marking, decided to mark those who were Jews with a six sided patch that was required to be worn on the outside jacket of all.
This contrast has given rise to the Star of David tattoo being one of the more well known tattoos that people choose to get. Most tattoos of stars do not bring as much meaning of pain and protection as this does, but for many this a proud expression of faith.
