Crash diets, let’s face it, are practically designed to crash and burn, so in that sense, perhaps they are well named. People want diets that work, not just for a short period of time, but forever. What they want is to lose weight and then keep that weight off for the rest of their lives. Advertisers who promote crash diets and fad diets of one kind or another realize that what people want is to lose a lot of weight very quickly. Post Holiday Fast

This weekend has been one big feast. I have been to a barbeque every afternoon for the last three days. I have also been loving all the great food I have been eating and the fact that it is grilling season once again. That said, I am also feeling like it will soon be time to do some fasting.

I have to figure out if I can do this tomorrow or Wednesday, as I have to be at work both days. It can be a little tricky negotiating the social eating thing when I am out of the house. There are plenty of times when you are supposed to be eating lunch and if you don’t, well people have all kinds of questions for you. As if not eating a meal is the end of the world. I have been faced with this in the past and told people I was fasting. Big mistake. I get an earful from folks that have no idea what they are talking about. Health, diet and all kinds of stuff, often from people that are way overweight and clearly do not know much about nutrition or eating in a healthy way.

I have learned it is better to say your not feeling well if anyone starts to ask why you are skipping a meal, rather than tell them you are fasting.
