Whenever you give a present to another individual, it is much appreciated if that gift is given wholeheartedly. Of course, there are some cases when you feel obliged to do it, such when you joined an exchange gifts event with your officemates for the holiday season. You just picked up somebody’s name and that person is someone you’re not fully acquainted with. If you want it more appealing, then adding a bit of personalization to your gift makes it more valuable and attractive. Certainly, you would want the same for gift that will be receiving.
In order to add more worth to your gift, you may need to attach certain level of customization. This can be done in many ways, and the easiest probably is to insert a small greeting card to the gift. That card should include your personal message to the receiver, not just the default printed words in it. It’s even recommended to use blank card so that the contents are purely handwritten. A concise and meaningful note should be sufficient. A different idea is to make the wrapping or design unique and personal by matching it with the recipient’s favorites, such as his or her favorite color and cartoon character. For example, if you plan to give a gift card, this can be done by selecting custom gift cards instead of the typical ones. With this, you can customize the card with the right design, the recipient’s name and your personal message to that person. If you want to go the extra mile, you can offer gifts that that the recipient wishes. This may not always be applicable because you need to be fully familiar with the recipient (unless you know their wish list), but remember that once a person accepts something special, the feeling of gratitude and happiness is infinite.
Development in Gift Giving

For a long time now, gifts have constantly been a significant part of special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Christmas holidays, wedding anniversaries, graduation, and more. A gift offered to someone close and has been a tradition for years. Such presents correspond to feelings or emotions of love, care, gratitude or thankfulness, and admiration towards another person who has made something special to you in any way.
It’s evident that there have been changes about the concept of gift giving as our culture evolved. Gifts years back are usually offered as it is, meaning without any decoration, card or wrappings at all. As we became more modern, the idea of gift giving again changed. We now exert an effort to make the gifts more presentable and good-looking by utilizing nicely designed boxes, beautiful gift wrappers, and colorful ribbons. Gift wrapping has reinforced the idea of surprise when talking about gifts because the receiver of the gift won’t have any idea of what’s beneath the gorgeous wrapping. The feeling of excitement is manifested by anyone who gets to accept a nicely wrapped gift. One good example is a child who accepts his or her Christmas or birthday presents. Nowadays, there are modern gifts available like gift certificates and prepaid gift cards. These new kinds of gifts may have lessened the excitement in gift giving, but it has created flexibility from the perspective of the recipient.
