Did you know what the biggest obstacle to getting things done is? If you’re like most people, you probably think that it is time. That is why the system by David Allen is so popular.

If you looking for ways to improve your efficiency, chances are that you have an excellent skill for worrying. Were you aware that worrying actually takes time? It’s true. The fact is that for many people half their day is occupied with the task of worrying.

For some unfortunate individuals, worrying is a full time job in terms of hours and energy expended. You probably don’t think about it this way, but it is absolutely true. Worrying takes time. It also takes a great deal of energy.

I think it is time that we looked around as a society and came to the realization that we need to take all of our worries and throw them out. How do you feel about that? I can hear the reaction in my mind. It sounds like a big gasp.

Where does that gasp come from? It is the result of having a false belief that worrying is important. In some sense worrying is serving a purpose. The intended purpose is to keep you on the right track, and make certain that you do the right things, and fulfill your responsibilities.

However, worrying is a highly inefficient means of motivation. It’s the motivation most people seem to use, but a better motivation is the feel so thrilled by reaching new heights and achieving goals that you are propelled for greatness.

If you can begin to see that worrying takes time, consumes energy, and is an ineffective motivational strategy, then you can begin to build a better strategy. Once you stop wasting so much time and energy worrying, you will begin to wonder just why it was that you thought you were in so much need of more time for getting things done.
