Basement Flooding
Posted by in Home and Furnishings on March 24th, 2010
If you are a homeowner, basement flooding is a very real danger. Whether you live in a split level house or have a full basement, there is one very simple precaution that can remove a large portion of the flood risk.
The most important thing you can do is to perform a periodic check on your sump pump. It is an easy thing to do. Simply pour a gallon of water onto the sump hole and see if the pump activates. This should be done on a monthly basis to ensure your pump will be there when you need it.
With a little effort, most flooding accidents are easily preventable. Make sure to check your sump pump. One minute a month may save your basement.
