Because the water pump relies on electricity from sunlight, the water flow from solar fountains will reduce or stop if something comes between the solar panel and the sunlight. A blockage could be as simple as a cloud passing between the sun and the panel, or a tree branch that blows into the sunlight’s path. A shadow from a person, an animal or even a nearby plant could interrupt the operation of a solar panel. Consequently, some solar fountains come equipped with an alternative electrical connection. Most people who have solar fountains, however, like the natural ebb and flow of the water, according to the availability of sunlight. Plus, with an electrical connection, the solar fountain must be set up outside somewhere near an electrical outlet. Kind of defeats the purpose then, doesn’t it?
