Just a few more days and I can escape to the beach. Memorial Day this year is, I believe, the earliest possible date it can fall on the calendar. My guess is this could mean a little less in terms of crowds at the beach this weekend. Many folks will still have their kids in school and it is just to much of a hassle to begin vacationing just yet. The next time we should see this same early holiday is in 2015, if my calculations are correct. Anyway that is not the entire point of my writing today.
I am excited to be heading down to Ortley Beach for an entire week this year. I have rented a house from Friday to Friday. Ortley is awesome, except for the mess of noise the Surf Club can generate. I made sure I got a place that was not right next to that Guido magnet. Hopefully I can miss out on the late night, empty-out the bar shenanigans that can go on around there. My plan is to not do much on the weekend besides hang out on the beach and enjoy relaxing at the house.
Once the busy holiday weekend is over we will head out further afield. The boardwalk at Seaside Heights, some restaurants in Toms River and maybe a day trip to Point Pleasant or Six Flags in Jackson. Those are really different things but one or the other will be fine with me. I’ll let the wife and kids make that decision and enjoy either one.
