The past several years I have been working on upgrading my fairly extensive stable of power tools. Many of them are close to the end of their usable lives, others are just old and ugly, but still quite usable. In the area of cordless power tools, I am really in need of a new cordless drill and have been looking at many different models from Ryobi, Black & Decker, and Makita. I like the Makita 18v cordless drill the best so far. The cost is about the same as the others I mentioned, but the Makita cordless weighs less, it looks cooler (very important!) and it just feels better in hand.
My old Ryobi cordless drill is close to useless right now because the batteries will not hold a charge. But it is also just beat up from hundreds of jobs and jobsites. I still need to look at Consumer Reports and read a few more reviews, but I think the Makita 18v cordless drill is probably going to be my choice.
