Mountainboarding has come a long way since it started just over 10 years ago. Boards have moved from being built in sheds and garages using borrowed parts and some very rough engineering to refined pieces of kit with months of research and development behind them. Production is now done from state of the art facilities in China and other areas in South East Asia.
The level of riding has shot up. Now it is rapidly approaching similar levels to snowboarding. Snowboarding still dwarfs mountainboarding in terms of amplitude but not so much technicality. The top pro level board in mountainboarding is the MBS Pro 100. The 100 refers to the deck length. The deck itself is created using reverse cap construction similar to that used on many snowboards. The hubs are made of extruded aluminum and the trucks are the lighter version of the bombproof and super adjustable matrix truck system. This board is made to be fairly light but really strong and able to withstand landings from big jumps. The deck’s stiffness allows the rider to generate great pop and height in their jumps.
