Public Transport in Alicante

If you are coming to the Costa Blanca for your vacation this year then you should think about Alicante as a one-stop shop for everything that you need. Alicante has all the entertainment from early in the morning until late at night, some of the best hotels in the province, and it is right on those beautiful sandy beaches of that make the Costa Blanca. Another thing is that you can get an Alicante flight from many different destinations throughout Europe and the airport is very close to the centre of the city. But once you get into the city as the transportation network which will really make a difference.
The good thing about Alicante is that public transport is plentiful and efficient. So if you do not want to rent a car or take taxis everywhere you go then you know you can make full use of the public transportation network which mostly consists of the bus system and the tram system.
The city bus system
The city bus system is mainly operated through a company called Transporte Alicante Metropolitano (TAM). The bus system is a good choice as it covers the city extensively and so getting around will be very easy for you. There are a lot of buses that cover over 25 routes and so you do not have to spend a lot time waiting for a bus. The bus stops are almost on every corner and in addition to that the bus fare is very reasonable.
The city tram system
The city’s tram system was started in 2003 by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) company. This is another great way to get around the city, the beaches as well other parts of near Alicante. This on ground tram connects the famous Alicante harbor with the Estacion de la Marina as well as the northern town of Alicante called El Campello. The tram is a very wallet-friendly, convenient, and extremely scenic way to travel around the city.
When getting around the many streets of Alicante it is better that you get a map so that you may not get lost and if all else fails just ask before getting onto a bus or tram just to be sure you are getting onto a bus that’s headed in the direction that you want to go. Overall the city’s bus system and tram system are convenient and wallet friendly and are therefore used by many locals and foreigners, but it is advised that you be aware of pick pockets.
Rojales on the Costa Blanca

Rojales Spain is a stunning town in south east region of the country. This town has a population of 15,987(as of 2006) and is positioned in inland part from the coastal area of Guarda Segura. As one of the municipalities of Alicante, this place was once an agricultural town way back from its history. It is because the place has perfect quality of being an agricultural land and also due to its natural resources like rivers, it is the perfect place for the crops of the region to grow. Right now the main source of revenue of this place is simply by tourism though some parts of the town are still reserved for farming and agriculture.
Getting to Rojales is so effortless; it is just 16 miles away or a 35 minute drive from Alicante airport. Another alternate route is from Murcia (San Javier) which is just about 35 miles away from the town. Alicante City is the capital city of the province. Because of its preserved cultural interests, this place is flocked by tourists especially during summer months where most tourists find the best weather to roam around. Hopping from town to town is simply the best idea for you to see the stunning resources that are available here. There are plenty of towns like Guardamar, Elche Spain , Torrevieja, Benidorm, and in contrast Rojales Alicante has a slow and steady tempo of living. Tourists can roam from the streets only to find quiet and peaceful place good for relaxation and romantic moments. Roaming the streets is also great since there are restaurants and cafes that serve beer or wine and some of the best tapas in the area. Most foods here are resemblance of Spanish, German, English, Dutch and Hungarian recipes, the Spanish cuisine being amongst the best. The town of Rojales really has a combination of the modern style and the historical cultural style.
Monovar jewel of the Costa Blanca

Monovar is a small town in the Costa Blanca region of Spain. It is located to the west of Alicante and it lies between the slopes of two separate hills. It has a population of about 11,000 inhabitants and is the perfect spot if you are looking for a tranquil vacation. Many people come to Spain for tranquillity, despite the reputation that seems to cities places like Benidorm and Alicante, there are some really eloquent towns and villages which have managed to escape from the mass tourism phenomena and the package holiday market.
Although towns like Monovar are trying to attract tourists to boost their economy, they are giving a different spin on what tourism should be. They are offering a different holiday experience than the frenetic activity that is offered by the big cities along the coast. For instance, whereas Benidorm offers all-night parties with a lot of young people getting drunk, you can expect to enjoy a night out in Monovar enjoying a glass of local red wine and eating a meal cooked with only the best and freshest ingredients. Of course you are going to enjoy these things in Benidorm itself, but you will not have the tranquil background that you have here. As they say, everyone took their own.
Some of the places that you should visit while you are in Monovar include the Hermitage of Santa Barbara. Now, this Hermitage was built towards the end of the 18th century by the famous architect Tomas Estacios. It was built on the site of an original building which had been constructed in the late 17th century. You can see the Hermitage as you approach Monovar and if you climb up the hill where it is situated you will get a view not only of the town itself but of the entire area. The Hermitage was visited in 1983 by the Academy of San Fernando and they declared it an artistic historic monument. On the opposite hill stands the remains of an old Arabic castle. There is only one part of a tower which is left standing. Many archaeological digs have taken place on the hill and a whole plethora of pieces have been found dating right back to the first Moorish occupants.

As we’re considering a permanent move to Cyprus I thought I’d take a look at some of the facts about the country and was surprised to see how many similarities there are between Cyprus and the UK. I suppose I shouldn’t have been so surprised as it wasn’t that long ago that Cyprus was a British colony. I found the following useful information on the website Guide2Cyprus. And if we want to go to church on a Sunday we had best remember that shorts and short sleeved shirts are not appreciated.

Amsterdam – Europe’s Most Liberal City
Amsterdam really does have to be experienced to be believed. To the first time visitor it offers a wealth of sensory experiences. No other city on the face of the earth is quite like it.
For a start, there’s the people. The citizens of Amsterdam are extremely straight talking, have a great sense of humor, are welcoming to visitors and of course, their English is excellent. It’s a national trait to have a flair for languages (their German and french is also excellent).
There’s something here for everyone. For the culture vulture, the picturesque canals and fascinating world class museums will delight. Then there’s the other side of the coin. The Red Light District is truly an experience. During the day there’s a strange party atmosphere in the area with curious families wandering bemusedly through the streets. The hash cafes (referred to locally as ‘Coffee Shops’) are another unique feature of the city. If this is your thing, you’re sure to find what you want here.
Most bars have delicious ice-cold Heineken on tap and the ‘Brown Bars’ are not to be missed. Truly, Amsterdam is unique among cities. A holiday to Amsterdam will be a fantastic and unpredictable experience.

It is always an excellent idea to arrive at the airport with sufficient time to check in your bags even if you expect to bring them aboard the plane with you.
