Trailer Tent Kitchens
Posted by in The Great Outdoors on October 11th, 2009
One of the most convenient features of a trailer tent is its kitchen. Although every model of trailer tent is different, all of them should have some type of kitchen. Most trailer tent kitchens include a two or three burner stove that runs off a small propane tank. In addition, they also should have a sink, a counter top, and a small-sized fridge. Depending on the size and model of your trailer tent, you might have these items and more. Some even come with a range oven so you can bake while camping. Having a kitchen like this is what makes trailer tent camping so much more convenient than just sleeping in a plain old tent. The ability to cook meals and keep food fresh in a refrigerator is a big advantage.
The Newbie Guide To The Propane Camping Lantern
Posted by admin in The Great Outdoors on October 7th, 2009
When it comes to camping lanterns, campers have really come to rely on the newer propane models for a source of safe and efficient heat, light and comfort. Unfortunately, because these lanterns are so convenient many new campers overlook the necessity to have sufficient fuel and spare parts to keep these lanterns functioning in the wilderness.
Propane lanterns work in much the same way as liquid fuel camping lanterns. The primary difference is that the fuel is supplied by a propane cylinder which is inserted into the bottom of the lantern. The propane, being under pressure, will feed through the lantern and out of the mantles. The lamp will continue to give off light until the fuel is exhausted or the mantles are damaged or broken.
Propane fueled camping lanterns are regarded as being safer than liquid fuel lanterns. The propoane is safely contained in a cylinder and refueling is as simple as swapping the empty cylinder for a new one. For longer continuous use, the lamp can be attached to a hole or other appropriate accessory and fed from a larger propane tank.
The small propane cylinders are relatively expensive and do not last all that long. This is one of the main reasons that many campers simply attach them to a larger propane tank. The biggest disadvantage of these lanterns is heat. As such, they are generally unsuitable for indoor use during the summer time. Therefore, in the event of a summertime natural disaster, a propane lantern would be unsuitable for use as a source of emergency lighting.
Propane lanterns have been around for about 15 years and are pretty reliable. They are convenient for use by newer campers so long as the campers have ready access to additional cylinders or the means to feed the lantern from a larger propane tank. All in all, propane lanterns provide a safe and efficient source of outdoor lighting. In the winter, they can provide an additional source of heat. As such, the propane lantern is an indispensable addition to any camper’s stockpile of camping accessories.
The Top Reasons to use a Push Lawn Mower
Posted by in The Great Outdoors on October 6th, 2009
It wasn’t very long ago that nearly everyone used push mowers. In the last twenty years however, ride on lawn mowers
have gained in popularity immensely. It seems like many homeowners have ride on mowers and don’t even need them. Here are a few reasons why you might need a ride on mower:
- It takes you more than two hours to mow your lawn with a push mower
- You are too old to push a mower anymore
- You have an injury or other medical condition that prohibits you from pushing a mower.
On the other hand, here are some reasons not to get a ride on mower:
- You are lazy: Everyone needs some exercise. Walking behind a mower is a good source of it.
- Your teenage son/daughter moved out: You got too used to your kid mowing the lawn. Time to dust off the sneakers and give the lawnmower a try again.
Using a push mower can be a great exercise. Instead of going to the gym or even going for a walk, mow your lawn. If you can’t bear mowing for two hours straight, try breaking it up into four ½ hour sessions.
Side Discharge Lawn Mowers
Posted by in The Great Outdoors on October 6th, 2009
There are a few ways that cut grass is ejected from ride on lawn mowers. The main types are rear discharge, side discharge, and mulching. One of the main advantages of side discharge mowers is that they can handle tall grass better than other types of mowers. Cut grass is rapidly ejected out the side, which isn’t the case with other mowers. If you purchase a Husqvarna ride on lawn mower, you can choose which kind of discharge you want. This is also true for many other lawn mower manufacturers. As a consequence, they are great for mowing down high weeds or even pastures. One of the main disadvantages of side discharge mowers is that they usually aren’t compatible with baggers, which means that you will have to leave the grass clippings on the lawn. Another disadvantage is that they spray lawn clippings and whatever else you drive over into areas you want to keep clean – places like gardens, sidewalks, or even open windows.
Ultralight Rods

Ultralight rods have a lot better as more and more anglers are finding their way to this end of the sport. People have ponds and reservoirs located all around them that aren’t quite big enough to get a boat in, and are still within walking distance or a short bike ride away. Having to load up all of the big heavy pro bass fishing gear is a pain in the rear, but throwing a small ultralight fishing rod and a small tackle box in your back pocket, you have instant access to any pond within reach. The ultralight rods have incredible backbone and superior strength allowing you to apply a lot more pressure on fish. These aren’t your grandfathers buggy whip rods for catching crappie anymore!
