As unreal as it sounds, there are actually entire states that have a driver uninsured rate of over 20% according to research conducted by the Insurance Research Council. These five include Alabama, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Florida. Regardless of state laws and the fact that it is illegal to drive without auto insurance, some states simply do not enforce the law as heavily as others. That is what makes these above states so vulnerable to uninsured drivers.
On the other hand, there are also several states where the uninsured driver rate is actually very low. These states being Maine, New York, North Dakota, Vermont, and Massachusetts all maintain a 1%-6% uninsured rate. That is incredible considering how many people live in each state, especially New York. Visit Stockton Auto Insurance and find some excellent information on auto insurance as well.
