Show me someone who doesn’t prefer the look (and feel) of a real fire over any other form of heating and I’ll show you a very odd person, quite possibly dysfunctional in various alarming aspects and without question a total curmudgeon.
1. They look fabulous.
People are simply drawn to a flame and have been since the first cave dwellers discovered how to make fire. Think about it, how often do you see a group huddled around the gas boiler?
2. They do it all.
Is it a fireplace? Is it a central heating and hot water boiler? Is it a cooker? Yes! It’s super woodburner! Those fancy looking wood burning stoves you see decorating a wall in the lounge often conceal a back-boiler that’s more than capable of heating enough hot water to run the household radiators and fill a few baths. And if it happens to be posing as a traditional kitchen range it’s likely doing a similar job. Versatile or what?
3. They’re cheaper to run.
The recent surge in the popularity of wood burners owes a lot to the ever rising price of conventional fuels. Modern wood burning stoves are highly efficient and need only a diet of otherwise useless dead wood or manufactured wood pellets recycled from waste sawdust.
